Kids or no kids, plan to kick off the back-to-school season in the best way at the 5th Annual "Buzzed" Spelling Bee and Backpack Drive! Come to 81Bay Brewing Company on July, 30 at 6 p.m. for a night of drinks, raffle giveaways, and, of course, a hilarious spelling bee.

This fun annual event is for a great cause as it raises backpacks and donations for Metropolitan Ministries' Backpacks of Hope Program, which distributes backpacks to kids in need. In just several years, they’ve given away 1,070 backpacks in the Tampa Bay area!

It’s important for every child to have a backpack because studies show that when children have school supplies of their own, their grades, behavior, and self-esteem in school improves. So help make a difference in a kid’s life this school year and bring your friends to the Buzzed Spelling Bee.

Admission to the 5th Annual “Buzzed” Spelling Bee and Backpack Drive is a single backpack or $20 donation per person.

You’ll want to get there early because the first 75 attendees who donate will get a BOGO beer from 81Bay Brewing, a free Fajita Bowl from Ciccio Cali (delicious!), and multiple chances to win awesome prizes from the event’s sponsors: Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, PDQ, SpotOn Digital Media, CFO Solutions, Loving Life Today, and New Heights Dance Studio. Increase your chances of winning and bring cash to buy even more raffle tickets!

The raffle giveaways and Buzzed Spelling Bee will begin at 8 p.m., and participation in the spelling bee is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Whether or not you join, though, it’s going to be a fun time, so mark your calendars for July 30th and bring a backpack to 81Bay Brewing.

The event is made possible by Align HCM, a quickly-growing human capital consulting company with offices in St. Petersburg, and Simply Stated Media, a Tampa-based copywriting and website strategy business. Without our sponsors, this event would not be the same for either the kids needing backpacks or adults wanting to help.
